Deleting your data

Beautrix Last updated: 10 September 2026

There are three different things you might want deleted, and they are not the same size. Pick the one you mean.

1. Delete the Instagram data only

This removes everything we received from Instagram and leaves the rest of your Beautrix account alone. Your page stays up; the gallery of your posts comes off it.

In Beautrix:

  1. Sign in at https://beautrix.app
  2. Go to Set-up → Where clients find you
  3. Next to Instagram, tap Disconnect

Or from Instagram's own side: open Instagram → Settings and privacy → Website permissions → Apps and websites → find Beautrix → Remove.

Disconnecting in Beautrix deletes your Instagram user ID, username, account type and every cached post — image URLs, captions, permalinks and timestamps — immediately, in the moment you tap it. We do not keep a copy and we cannot get it back afterwards. Reconnecting later starts fresh.

Removing us from Instagram's own side is not the same thing. Instagram stops honouring our access straight away but does not tell us it has, so we find out at the next refresh — within a day — and take the gallery off your page then. The cached copy is still ours to delete at that point, and we have not deleted it.

To have the cached copy deleted, use Disconnect in Beautrix. One tap, and it is gone in that moment. If you would rather not sign in, email privacy@beautrix.app and we will do it for you.

2. Delete your whole Beautrix account

In Beautrix:

  1. Sign in at https://beautrix.app
  2. Go to Set-up → Your data
  3. Choose Download a copy first if you want one — this is your last easy chance
  4. Choose Close my account and confirm

Your public page comes down immediately and your booking link stops working the moment you confirm.

Everything else is kept for 90 days in case you change your mind. After that your account, settings, services, page content and Instagram data are deleted from our live systems. Our database backups run on a short rolling cycle, so the last copy disappears as those roll — we do not keep an archive of closed accounts. You can cancel the closure at any point in those 90 days by signing in again.

We keep two things longer, and we are required to:

  • Invoices and payment records — six years. UK tax law requires it. We cannot delete these on request, and neither can you.
  • Your clients' booking records — but only until you tell us what to do with them. See the next section, because this one is genuinely your decision to make.

3. If you are a client who booked an appointment

Ask the artist you booked with. Her contact details are on her booking page and at the bottom of every email you have had about the appointment.

This is not us passing you around. In law the artist is the controller of your data — she decided to collect it and what it is for — and Beautrix is her processor, which means we are only allowed to act on her instructions. If we deleted your details because you asked us to, without her telling us to, we would be breaking both our contract with her and data protection law.

If you cannot reach her, email us at privacy@beautrix.app. We will pass your request to her, tell you we have done it, and help her carry it out. If she does not respond, tell us and we will chase her.

If you would rather just ask

Email privacy@beautrix.app with what you want deleted. We will confirm within 30 days and tell you what we have removed and what we have had to keep, and why.

You do not have to give a reason.

What we cannot delete

  • Records we are legally required to keep — invoices and payment records for six years under UK tax law.
  • Anything Instagram or Meta holds. Removing our access does not touch your own Instagram account, your posts, or anything Meta holds about you. That is between you and Meta: instagram.com/accounts/remove/request/permanent.
  • Anything Stripe holds about payments, which Stripe keeps under its own legal obligations. stripe.com/privacy.

If you are not happy with how we handled it

Use the complaints form at https://beautrix.app/complaints. We acknowledge within 30 days.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113, whether or not you have come to us first.
