We want anybody to be able to book an appointment and any artist to be able to run her diary, whatever they are using and however they are using it.

What we aim for

WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We are not formally certified against it and we have not had an independent audit. What follows is what we have actually built and checked, not an aspiration.

What we have done

  • Every control can be reached and used with a keyboard, in an order that makes sense, with a visible focus outline that is never removed.
  • Text contrast meets 4.5:1 against its background, and we check the painted colour rather than the specified one — faded text over a tint is measured as it actually appears.
  • Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels on phones.
  • Colour is never the only signal. Anything shown in green, amber or red also says what it means in words.
  • Forms have real labels, permanently visible, above the field rather than inside it — a placeholder disappears the moment you start typing, which is exactly when the help was wanted. Errors say what is wrong and how to fix it.
  • The page works at 200% zoom and at 320px wide without horizontal scrolling.
  • Images have alternative text, and decorative ones are hidden from screen readers rather than described pointlessly.
  • It works without JavaScript for the core booking flow, and it works offline for an artist who has lost signal at a client's house.
  • Motion is reduced if your device asks for that.

Where we know we fall short

Replace this section with what is actually true. Every real statement has one. An empty "no known issues" reads as untested, because it usually is.

  • Instagram galleries use the captions the artist wrote on Instagram, which are often not useful alternative text. We cannot rewrite them and we do not.
  • The week view in the diary is a dense grid. It is usable with a keyboard and a screen reader but it is not pleasant, and a day-at-a-time view is the better route.
  • We have not yet tested with Dragon or other voice control software.

If something is in your way

Email hello@beautrix.app and tell us what you were trying to do and what stopped you. We will reply within 5 working days, and if it is something we can fix quickly we will.

If you cannot use the site at all and you need to reach an artist, tell us and we will help you get in touch with her another way.

How we test

Keyboard-only navigation, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, TalkBack on Android, automated checks in the build, and manual contrast measurement on the rendered page. We are a very small team and we do not claim this is exhaustive.
